The Ministry of Justice and Administration was restructured into the Ministry of Law, and this office was subordinate to the Ministry of Law. On December 24, 1989, in line with the amendment of the Organic Law of the Court, it was renamed the "Taiwan High Court Procuratorate", and the head of the agency was also renamed the Chief Prosecutor. On May 25, 2018, it was renamed "Taiwan High Prosecutor's Office" in line with the revised Article 114-2 of the Organic Law of the Court.
