Fantasy shop Got what you want in your dreams

Very good tool shop, has a good selection of Japanese and Taiwanese tools, and been there since 1945. They have a workshop in the back so they know and use the products they sell. It doesn't compare to the best tool shops in Japan, but definitely of interest to most woodworkers (especially for hand tools). They have Iyoroi chisels, and lots of Karumi products. Bring a translator if you don't speak the language though! Taiwanese sculpting tools in particular are a bargain. Helpful staff.

This woodworking tool shop sells a fairly comprehensive selection of hand and power tools, with perhaps a bit more emphasis on hand tools. Most of the tools are from Japan and Taiwan; they also carry the Veritas tools from Lee Valley (Canada). As such, the selection is of generally quite good quality, and the prices are reasonable for good tools. They also offer some high-end tools. You'll also find a few handmade Taiwanese tools such as planes and a good range of the rather unique traditional carving chisels used on the island (these have no handles; they're struck with a sort of mallet that's more like a big blocky stick than anything else). You probably won't find these outside of Taiwan, so if you're in the area and interested in this stuff, it's definitely worth checking them out. The store is well-organized, and also carries a few tools that either aren't specific to woodworking (e.g. Mitutoyo measuring tools) or for other tasks entirely (such as side cutters). The location isn't super close to an MRT station, but if you don't mind a little bit of walking, it's not terribly far from Beimen, Taipei Main Station, or even Zhongshan. Technically, the closest "MRT" exit is the Taipei City Mall Exit Y19. But if you're a visitor, you might find yourself in the area anyway, because Dihua Street is nearby.

woodworker i am really picky on what tools i use, and i can tell this shop only has high quality items at a reasonable price, i recommend them warmly. And a Plus: the staff speaks english :)

Lovely, well organized place for shopping wood working tools. Most of them are from Japan so the price may be a little higher than average. But the quality and easy of their online inventory with ordering makes up for it.
