Taipei City Employment Building for the Physically Handicapped

Well-equipped, clean environment, a good place for people with disabilities to exercise.

The Taipei City Government has long been engaged in promoting the employment of people with disabilities, and hopes to improve the employment situation of people with physical and mental disabilities. This is a difficult social project. With the joint support and cooperation of various departments, the employment rights of people with disabilities can be realized. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities declares that people with disabilities should enjoy the same spirit of human rights and fundamental freedoms as the average person. The land of the building was acquired in December of the Republic of China. After evaluation and active planning, the original building demolition and personnel resettlement was completed in November 1996. Civil society organizations, scholars and experts, and enterprises that have long been concerned about the employment rights of the disabled are invited. The representatives of the public opinion have repeatedly negotiated and established the purpose. The Taipei Municipal Government has budgeted and built it. It started construction in February of the Republic of China. After more than 600 days of construction, it built a 7-storey and 2 underground floor, which is specially designed to promote the employment of people with disabilities. The establishment of the "Taipei Disabled Persons Employment Building" has promoted the employment promotion work of the physically handicapped in this city to a new milestone. During the construction process, the building strengthened labor safety and achieved the results of zero occupational disasters. On July 8, 102, the building was awarded the only finalist in Group F of the “Promoting Good Public Works for Labor Safety and Health”. All of this proves that the Taipei City Government is committed to providing the best resources to promote the employment of people with disabilities with the most rigorous planning and the highest building specifications. Due to the careful planning and supervision of the Taipei Municipal Government Labor Bureau and the Taipei City Labor Reconstruction and Utilization Office, the building was completed as scheduled. Special thanks to all the colleagues in the city team for their contributions and contributions. In the future, we will try to promote more employment models through this building, and introduce the concept of social enterprises to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities to make strides. The completion of the building is also the beginning of more responsibilities.
