★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great gem hidden in the lanes of Taipei Xihu area. Place is runned by a couple where husband heads the kitchen while wife handles the patrons. Great food especially the rolled grilled mackerel, where you can eat them off a skewer. They also serve great grilled beef cubes. There also many award winning dishes which are must try. Unfortunately their famous sashimi bento is only served at lunch.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food is delicious and service is good. The sea urchin sushi is fresh and taste great. Another tasty dish is BBQ chicken skewers topped with fish roe sauce. Great combination of chicken and fish roe sauce. The grilled saury fish is prepared differently from what I typically had. The chef deboned it into fillet and then rolled up and grilled. The end result is a delicious grilled fish skewer that is tender in the middle. It is advisable to call and reserve before heading down to the restaurant.

Clean restaurant and friendly staff.
Good looking food presentation.
There is a photo menu. A bit misleading, so be careful when ordering, you may be surprised at what you get.
Beer was cold.
Quick service.
Cons.
In a small alley.
Easily the most expensive food I've seen for a regular restaurant.
The place had customers taking a smoking break just at the front door. Really nice fragrance on the way in.
No English at all on the misleading photo menu. However, they had a Japanese menu.
Also no background music, so we were lucky enough to hear what was being said at the front table.
Finally, even if the food had been half the price, I wouldn't be coming back.

A great casual Japanese restaurant with a super creative chef, who had been into the art of Japanese cuisine since 16 year old, though he looked older than me, both still young.
The chef serves seasonal menu on his sense and materials daily. All signatures dishes hit my taste, especially with beers.
The chef's wife is absolutely kind host. She also runs Japanese wine testings a couple nights a week.
