1957年，比利時籍方濟會士恩特理神父，率先前來到臺北縣內湖鄉，初期以租屋方式傳教；1961年5月14日，由比利時籍胡文義神父，在紫陽村購地創建「內湖天主堂」，並為首任主任。之後，繼任的主任有戴立林神父、吳德翰神父（以上均為比利時籍）；因當時比利時籍神父人數不多，遂將該堂交方濟會中華會省接管。
1965年，透過比利時方濟會母會的經濟奧援，在本地創辦教育事業而設立方濟中學，1966年成立女生部，1971年女生部獨立成校—文德女中。
 【Neihu Catholic Church】
In 1957, the Belgian Franciscan Father Entre, led the previous trip to Neihu Township, Taipei County, and initially preached by renting a house; on May 14, 1961, Belgian Father Hu Wenyi purchased land in Ziyang Village Created the "Neihu Catholic Church" and served as the first director. Later, the succeeding directors were Father Dai Lilin and Father Wu Dehan (all of which were Belgian nationals); because there were not many Belgian priests at that time, the church was handed over to the Franciscan Chinese Province.
In 1965, through the economic aid of the mother club of the Franciscans in Belgium, the Franciscan Middle School was established by the establishment of an education business in the local area.

While the church is undergoing renovations, the Mass in English will be temporarily relocated across the street to the Wende School Chapel, 3rd Floor of the main building of St. Bonaventure (Wende) Girls High School. Take the elevator to the third floor and turn right. Service begins promptly at 11:30 a.m. every Sunday, with some exceptions for major holidays or church festivals.
