1885 Burger Store

I love this place, the food is great, I recommend the four cheese burger, and the Mexican tartar, the price is good and the service is very warm, you also can refill your drinks.

The burgers are very good here. In fact, they might be the best burgers in Taipei. Unlike American style burgers, the meat is thick and juicy, and not charred at all, so more like Japanese burgers. You have your choice of buns or no buns. The French fries here are also very good here, as is the onion rings, although portions are small. Oh and did I mention they have milk shakes here? There is a secret technique to eating these burgers without spraying juice all over which I will share with you. The trick is to pinch the bread together at the bottom so that you squeeze the patty higher up in the bun. This way no juice leak out the bottom. You will be left with a thin crescent of bread at the end, but these are soaked with juices so still very good to eat. This place is smaller than it looks from the outside, and service is very good. They also have pasta and brunch type foods. The scrambled egg with Bolognese sauce is worth a try. Prices orverall might be a bit on the high side for Taipei, but I don't mind when the quality is good. There is a tv on the wall here and usually a basketball game on, so it doesn't get much better than that. Also they have free wifi here and its very fast.

229 for such portion, everything is so simple I can make it at home, so not worth the price, money wasted?

A fair priced and quality burger shop in the neighbourhood. The design was not bad and seats were comfortable. Food was ok, average quality and optimal price. Not much people dine here though (maybe because there are lots of restaurants nearby) Ordered classic cheese burger and creamy pasta with chicken breast and prawns: burger was juicy but not seasoned very well. Pasta tasted ok but chicken breast was on dry side. Fries with cheese and bacon was fine, but the cheese sauce was not enough and we had to ask for extra dop sauce. Lunch would be worthy to try with a lower price. Set lunch/ dinner was offered with drinks and sides. Overall not much to comment, not impressive but also not bad.

A tasty burger and beer place. They have daily special menus for weekday. Also there is ‘combo’, which you can choose beer when you order a burger (+TWD99). The patty is ok - not too juicy. I do not recommend ciabatta bread. It is not easy to bite.

I've lived in Taipei for 7 years and while some other burger places have had issues with consistency (translation: cutting corners with cheaper ingredients), for my money 1885 has always been the best burger place in Taipei. The grilled steak burger is highly recommended. The steak just by itself is great and always well cooked

Burgers were decent, and portion size was average. The fries themselves are good, but (see photo) sure feels like they pulled a fast one in us: the paper lining is stretched so 80% of the container is empty. The New Orleans wings are flavourless (appears to be store-bought frozen wings and then air-fried), so they provide a small dish of BBQ sauce: use it because you need to put some flavour on it somehow.
