From the Sandiaoling Waterfall Group, go through the Zhongkeng Ancient Road and the Chailiao Ancient Road all the way to Houtong, cross the railway underpass, and arrive at the Miners Culture and History Museum. Listen to the miners and teachers who tell the history of Taiwan's mining industry with humor and enthusiasm, witness the living history and understand the contribution of mining to Taiwan's economy. These stories and assets are worth visiting.

In the secret place of Houtong, a miner’s cultural relics museum established by a group of old miners with a joint pension fund. At the end of the road, there is a free parking space on the side of the road. Passing through the underground railway track, it is as if you have traveled through time and space. The historical miner volunteers will guide you freely and introduce how the miners used the objects on site to mine and live. It is a good place to recommend. The journey takes about half an hour.

An awesome museum for free.
It was established by the former miners' own pensions for the elderly and personally acted as guides to explain. A lot of mining tools were collected at that time, and the hinterland is not big but full of history. Events will be held from time to time, and I am looking forward to participating!!

Located in "Houtong", Shancheng Coal Township in the northeast corner, there is a group of miners who retired in Houtong, hoping that "Taiwan Mining History" can have a complete record of cultural understanding and inheritance for future generations. To help the public to visit and to have a little understanding of the coal mining industry instead of just knowing the ''cat village'' is touching. These volunteers also include a female miner! . Recently, there is an activity called "Houtong Miners' Life and Memory Roaming", which can be booked online. I hope everyone will actively visit and the volunteers along the way will explain it. It is now a tourist attraction! I also hope that interested social people, groups and national units will join in the grand event to help

The place I walked to by accident was originally just thinking of going in for a walk, but I didn't expect to start a rich and wonderful cultural and historical journey.
As soon as we entered the museum, the volunteers warmly welcomed and began to guide and explain. After the explanation, I realized that this museum of literature and history was organized by several retired old miners together with their old age pensions. Important industrial historical traces are preserved and passed down.
Zhou Chaonan gave a very detailed explanation and guide. After listening to the story, I found out that the uncles of the volunteers are all old miners or relatives who have a very deep relationship with the mine! It is explained by them who have experienced the mine period, making the story extra exciting and rich! For the questions raised by the tourists, Brother Zhou also explained their doubts one by one.
The information in the venue is very rich and complete, and a lot of original items are very well preserved. It is a really good knowledge tour, and there is no charge at all. There are also cute little gifts (miner hats, which have different colors to represent different positions. One side is a small flashlight, and the other side is a bottle opener, which is very practical ??), so I really hope everyone can support it together.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place to walk around and imagine a whole different time. This is a historical site and you can't enter most of the buildings but there is informational signs.
Behind this site is the entrance to a hike that leads to Sandiaoling waterfalls and or Shifen waterfalls.
