收驚不須預約，但記得準備一件衣物，且三天內睡覺時都得穿著它，才能有效抵擋煞氣再度入侵。
習俗上會準備一百元當作收驚的酬謝；另外雖然現在大家都不太這樣做了，但最好還是能包在紅包袋裡面，這樣才能方便到廟裡燒卻收下的煞氣。
