The temple was built in the 6th year of the Meiji Reign (1903), and the 6th year of the Taisho era (1917) was renamed "Jixingtang" and later renamed Dongyue Temple. The other town Dongyue Temple and the Toucheng Chenghuang Temple take turns to hold the "Toucheng Great Bye" event every year ~

The Dongyue Temple in Toucheng, commonly known as Dongyue Hall and Yuedi Temple, is the Dongyue Temple in Taiwan, dedicated to Emperor Dongyue. In the 9th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1870), the immigrants of Wu and Huang from Pinghe County, Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, were joined by Emperor Dongyue in Tangshan and crossed the platform with the incense of Emperor Dongyue. The temple was enshrined, and even after the cession of Taiwan, even the head of the Japanese police station came and asked questions. The director believed that it was very effective and initiated the Tanna fundraiser to build a large temple. The local gentry Cao Tianhe offered the land, and Huang Qing, the elder son, served as the administrator. The temple was built in the 36th year of Meiji (1903) and named "Jixingtang" in the sixth year of Taisho (1917), and later renamed Dongyue Temple. The Dongyue Temple in the other town alternates with the Toucheng Chenghuang Temple every year to hold the "Toucheng Great Worship" event. It is held by Dongyue Temple on the 26th of March in the lunar calendar and held by Chenghuang Temple on the sixth day of the lunar calendar the following year.
