This is a grocery store located in the countryside of Wujie (called Ganzai shop in Southern Fujian). It doesn’t even have a sign, only the words "In the Cloud Store" are posted on the beams and pillars of the arcade. Unless it is a local, the average person Even passing here, it is difficult to find such a traditional grocery store. The name of such a grocery store "Zaiyun" is a bit literary and "Chinese style". Intuition reminds people of the Tang Dynasty poet in the calligraphy and painting "Ruo Xi" given by the Fourth Master in the famous Qing Dynasty palace drama "Step by Step Jingxin". "Wang Wei": "Walking to the poor water, sitting and watching the clouds rise." The artistic conception. Just the origin of the word "Zaiyun", the meaning of the word is closer to that of Tang Dynasty poet Jia Daozai's "Looking for the Hermit": "Matsushita asks the boy, the teacher picks medicine. Only "in" this mountain, "cloud" knows nowhere. ".
It is understood that this grocery store was opened by a retired teacher who taught Chinese at Wujie National Middle School, and he also took the name of the store. It's just that the retired Chinese language teacher has passed away, and there is no way to know the artistic conception and origin of the shop's name "Zaiyun". It is understood that the poem "The one who seeks the hermit does not meet" is a metaphor for the ancient scholar-officials' aspirations to live in peace and happiness, not with the secular, clean and arrogant.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Taiwan’s economy was not yet developed. Grocery stores were retail stores selling grains, oils, foods, and all kinds of daily necessities. In that era when there were few supplies and lots of favors, small shops selling groceries used large bamboo discs. Put things, Taiwanese call that big disk "tongzai" and the small shop filled with tongs is called "tongzai shop." Nowadays, the emergence of various supermarkets, large-scale mass merchandisers and chain convenience stores has dwindled after the economic development. Time and space are changing.
The old "tongzai shop" was usually located near the home, and the operators were mostly residents of the community. Because of the "neighborhood business" that served housewives and children in the area, they talked and laughed with frequent customers. Deeper feelings can often have credits, etc.; but as the old community is broken, grocery stores are gradually being group-operated, larger, low-priced, and 24-hour convenience stores that allow consumers to have more choices Or the replacement of supermarkets has also greatly changed the shopping habits of residents. It is no longer easy to see the traditional "clamp shop".
