Founded in 1871 Dedicated to King Guangze Baoan Temple is located in Xinshe, Zhubei City, adjacent to Xinshe Elementary School. Baoan Temple was originally a stone house. It was built in the tenth year of Tongzhi (1871) and converted into a courtyard house in 1963. It has a history of more than 120 years and is the earliest temple in the new community.

Religious culture has been closely integrated with daily life and has become a unique Taiwanese streetscape. The Baoan Temple in Zhubei, built in 1871, is such an important existence for the residents of Xinshe. King Guangze who became a god like a child Walking into the Baoan Temple, you will find that the gods enshrined in the main hall are not very familiar. He looks like a child, with big almond-like eyes, sitting cross-legged and hanging down, in a very special posture. Who is this god? He is the "King Guangze". Among the many gods, he may not be as well known as the Virgin Mary and Emperor Guan Sheng, but the story of his emergence as a god is full of legends. According to the temple stele, there are two legends about King Guangze’s life experience: his real name is Guo Zhongfu, he lost his father when he was young, and became the shepherd boy of the Chen family. Because of the appreciation and instructions of the geographer, he found good land for the Chen family. Later, Yu Feng When the mountain rock entered Dingcheng to become a god, nearby residents built Fengshan Temple for him; another said that its name was Guo Gan, which emerged as a god under a pine tree, and the residents set up temples for worship. When a year of severe drought, the residents went to ask for rain. Soon it rained heavily, which was very effective. There are even legends that Emperor Yongzheng, who was the prince at that time, suffered from smallpox. In his dream, a child came to deliver medicine. He was the King Guangze. The Guo family from Quanzhou came to Taiwan to build the Baoan Temple What is the reason for the belief in King Guangze in the Zhubei area? Guangze Zunwang was originally enshrined in Fengshan Temple in Nan'an County, Fujian Province. At that time, people from Quanzhou came to Taiwan to cultivate and carry statues of the king for blessings. This act of carrying the gods of the hometown is called "the faith of native gods." Among them, the Guo family of Quanzhou settled in Zhubei Xinshe and regarded King Guangze as the ancestor, and only then has the Baoan Temple today. The Baoan Palace, built in 1871 (the tenth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty), was originally just a stone house. It was funded and renovated by Guo Qingbo in the first ten years of the Republic of China. The temple plaque of Baoan Temple clearly inscribes the words of the Republic of China in 1963, and you can also see the records of temple construction from it. Size details and stories in the temple In addition to enshrining King Guangze, Baoan Palace also enshrines Emperor Shennong and Law Lord. There are five generals outside the main hall, and Tai Sui Hall, which enshrines 60 Tai Sui star kings, is on the side. Its faces are quite different and lined up. There is momentum. If you look closely, each of the marble carvings on the walls of the temple is a familiar legend, such as: 24 filial piety "Lying on the ice for carp", "Selling one's body to bury the father", or "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" and "Wan Bigui Zhao" Wait for the mural. Baoan Temple also has a special tradition. Every Lantern Festival will hold a bright lantern bidding event, which has been more than 30 years now. There are 8 bright lights in the temple, including 8 main lamp owners, 32 auxiliary lamp owners, and 10,000 small lamps, and the top main and auxiliary lamp owners are open for bidding. Originally, the registration method of the main and deputy lamp owners was the mutual courtesy of the villagers. Later, it gradually changed to open bidding, and the highest bidder won the bid. Therefore, this has also become a unique event of Baoan Temple!
