為劉氏子孫年節祭祀、緬懷先人、集會及平日休憩活動之所。
宗祠內外仍保存石柱、貢元牌匾。
嘉盛劉屋周邊仍圍繞大片農田菜園，清晨傍晚更吸引三三兩兩的健走運動人士經過。
農作除稻米種植外，亦有芋頭、蓮藕，散步健走，或有蓮葉田田，或有休耕時的向日葵田，或有波斯菊一往無際，可謂苗栗市的城市之肺！！
貢元為對貢生的尊稱。貢生是科舉時代，挑選府、州、縣生員(秀才)中成績或資格優異者！
