The 2022 Emperor Sugar Celebration, a series of music-themed exhibitions, historical bel canto concerts, shellac music lectures, opera performances, banquets and other activities, will lead everyone to slowly experience the different Taichung life and cultural charm. The key events of 4/2~4/4, the Emperor Sugar Celebration Lakeside Life, will join hands with the super popular market "Smile Market", the first historical building around the lake. The Taichung Jazz Concert in the main stage area of Emperor Sugar brings together several groups of heavyweight jazz bands to perform, bringing you back to the classic old-school romance with retro swing jazz! The historic building "Imperial Sugar Factory Taichung Sales Office and Auxiliary Facilities", formerly the Taichung Factory of Japan Imperial Sugar Co., Ltd., is located in Takasago Town, Taichung City, Taichung Prefecture, which is now the East District of Taichung City. At present, there is only the building where it is located. The building was built in April 10, 1935. After the war, it served as the Taichung office of the Taiwan Sugar Industry Company. Due to the influence of international sugar prices and the transformation of Taiwan's industrial structure, Taichung Sugar Factory ceased production in the 1990s, and a large number of original buildings were demolished year by year. This building is the only remaining Japanese-era building in the district. It is one of the representative works of public buildings in Taichung during the Japanese Occupation. It has the historical meaning of industrial development and the history of the monopoly system, and has the value of cultural asset preservation and architectural research.

The first time I came to the Imperial Sugar Factory, the service experience was very bad. The entry cost $50, which can be deducted from the $60 internal consumption, but when we entered, it felt as if we could buy or not. The clerk also let us enter directly. I bought a robotic arm for a child to make a latte take-out. There are tickets written on the machine, and there are discounts. When I went to the door to buy tickets, the service staff said that I could not buy any more tickets when I came in. It didn’t matter. I accidentally spilled some other drinks on the floor and hands. To find a bathroom, the clerk told me to go to the restaurant at the back and said that I needed to borrow the toilet. The restaurant clerk asked if there was a ticket stub. I said no, and she opened the door next to it and said that the toilet can be found along the sugar cane garden. As a result~ I saw the sign and walked along the road for three minutes. I was so heartbroken that I felt that I must be a second-class citizen like the previous colonial era, and I had to go to the public toilet outside. After finally washing my hands and shoes, I opened the coffee and prepared to drink it, but the cup lid still leaked coffee. With such quality of service and quality of take-out cups, you dare to open a store here? The anger is very big, which company can have such a blind contracting quality? Totally negative review Negative review, I haven't even visited the other stores in it. In the photo there are signs to the toilet and the distance to the sugar factory and the leaking takeaway cup. For your reference. ps. Improvement method, 1. Tell the entrants to buy the ticket when it is time to buy it. 2. If you don't buy a ticket, you can't borrow the toilet. Please say so. 3. Please let me know if it takes three minutes to walk to the external toilet. Do the above, there will be absolutely no such complaints.

Admission to the exhibition requires a 50-yuan ticket, but it can be used to offset the 60-yuan fee of the "Smelting Sugar" restaurant. The exhibition is generally called a cultural and creative product exhibition. If you like cultural and creative products, you can stroll around. The exhibition space is not large, but in addition to selling cultural and creative products, there are also drinks and dessert popsicles. Those who like early adopters may try it. But I still feel a little cheated, because except for a few signboards that introduce the history of sugar mills, the others are commodity displays. I have turned into spending money to see "commodities" instead of exhibitions with real content. This kind of over-commercialization The behavior is killing chickens and taking eggs, consuming people's expectations and interest in cultural assets, and the competent authority of the Ministry of Culture may still need to weigh the practices of the entrusted manufacturers. The food at Yetang Restaurant is not bad, and the sweetness of the drinks is really just right. If you have afternoon tea or dinner after visiting the exhibition in the park, the environment and atmosphere are also good. The park outside is a bit like an ecological park, but there are also parts that introduce the history of Taiwan sugar factories. If parents can do some homework related to history and ecology first, they should be able to stroll around for a while with children, but I recommend visiting around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Outside the park, because the park is not small, but there are not many shelters, if you want to observe the ecology, it may be a little sunburned. There are many paid parking spaces on the roadside nearby, whether it is good to park depends on the time period.

Site of a former sugar factory surrounded by some wetlands. Nice, peaceful area, however the designers fantasy once again ended with plenty of unnecessary steel and concrete structure. Fun fact: The sugar railways used to have a railway line that stretched from here to Zhuoshui station on the Jiji line, connecting Taichung, Dali, Wufeng and Caotun. Too bad the line has been scrapped in the 1950s after a tropical storm damaged it.

Heritage building reborn. A sugar factory established during Japanese colonization era. Like many other same era architectures in Japan, it is influenced by both western and Meiji philosophy. There's also a wetland park near by. The space is now utilized as cafe and local crafts shops. Overall it could be better planned and utilized. Hope Taichung City Hall would put more thoughts into it.

The wetland and the lake are amazing. The historical build beautiful too, but the interior has been used for small stalls, restaurant and cafe. No information about the history and construction of the building, strange and a shame too!
