The wine barrel mountain, also known as Shadow Mountain, is 997 meters above sea level and is listed as Xiaobaiyue No.44. It is located at the junction of Taiping District and Taixin Community in Taichung City. The top of the mountain has a third-order triangular point number 4181. It is a small and clever one. The hills, the original trails, are about 20~30 minutes from the trailing edge to the top of the mountain. There is no outlook on the top of the mountain. It is a relatively unpopular Xiaobaiyue.

Recently, it’s a bit steep from the Nanlin Line, and it is very slippery to descend from the mountain. Thanks to Dalishan’s association for opening the road and the ropes built by mountain friends, the whole route is much more interesting. There are a few observation points along the way, such as Sanding Mountain and Tousong Mountain. Taichung City.

"Kick the Asphalt Road and Return to the French Butterfly" Keke starts from the trail entrance next to the French butterfly and connects to the triangle point on the northwestern edge of the rope climbing route on the upper right where you see the betel nut garden, and turns left back to the asphalt road at the intersection where you see the first homestay from the lower edge of the southern edge. . Note: The northwestern edge is really exhausted and very steep. It is necessary to draw the rope all the way. It must be physically strong and not suitable for children to challenge... Bonus points: The triangle point has an outlook to overlook Taichung City, there is a new toilet but not yet open (11/05), you can add the fairy waterfall and the 1051 peak, and there is a pine needle carpet and swing near the entrance of Nanling

2021-4-8 visit. I originally wanted to climb up the northwest edge of the challenge route and down the south edge. But there is not enough time to change to the easier route Beilin. So I drove from the northwestern edge of the mountain (near the French butterfly) to Zhonghe Elementary School. The mountain road was super steep and the driving was very thrilling. If you encounter a fork on the way, you can actually drive up to the Beiling mountain pass, but it was really steep and saw the cement truck come down, so I decided to drive down, stop in front of the elementary school, and walk on the asphalt road for physical training. Also practice legs. It's a bit difficult to walk on the asphalt road wearing hiking shoes. It takes about 1 hour to walk to the mountain pass and about 20 minutes from the mountain pass to the triangle point. The last section of the road was developed by Shanyou, and the ropes are also very new. I am really grateful. Recently, the Mountain Association has also developed the northwest and south ridges and erected ropes to turn Shadow Mountain into an intermediate mountain, which is quite challenging. The last section of the trail in Beilin is the same as all the original trails that are steep and difficult to climb before reaching the summit. Fortunately, the distance is very short. Today's asphalt road construction on the mountain, construction vehicles carry cement back and forth, if you drive up, be careful to get the car. There are usually few people on the day, but it often encounters construction. Thinking that no one would be climbing, I encountered two groups of people coming up almost at the same time at the triangle point. You can enter "Dark Shadow Mountain" to search on google map. There are also many comments in it. Shadow Mountain is Wine Barrel Mountain, but Shadow Mountain is hidden on the map, and it will only appear if you enter a text query.

It takes about 20 minutes to reach Beilin from the 1403 Baoanlin sign to the triangle point. The road to the Baoan Forest is small and turns around. People who are not good at cycling are advised to park the locomotive in the open space in front of Chunghwa Telecom opposite the Zhonghe Elementary School. The journey back and forth is about 7 kilometers longer, and the time is about 3 hours longer. There are betel palm trees beside the road at the front end. After passing the fork of Yunxianju, the trees beside the road are no longer betel palm trees. Before arriving at the Baoan Forest, the roadside scenery was ordinary. On the day I climbed, the visibility was not good, so I don’t know if the view from the top of the mountain is good. There are few people, and you are very free when climbing mountains. There will be no sense of restraint like Dakeng No. 9 and No. 10 blocking others or being blocked by others. With the rope pulled by Dalishan, you will not get lost. It takes a long drive to get to Xinshe Zhonghe Elementary School, and the mountain roads turn around. No wonder Jiutong Mountain is rarely climbed.
