豐原舊名為“葫蘆墩”其名之由來根據 吳光子著“一肚皮集”謂:「葫蘆墩地鄰東勢,非山非邨,亦山亦邨,固東上游之大聚落也,墩高數丈許,形似倒葫蘆,故名.」
另有一說: 葫蘆墩地名由來依台灣通史之記載,豐原轄內有三處土墩:墩腳,墩身,墩頭,相傳是大甲溪漂砂所堆積而成,其中最大一處墩腳即現址,因三墩體形狀似葫蘆,因而得名.
2014年綠化為小公園,一旁榕樹下是土地公廟,順著街道走仍有幾家裁縫店,青草店,小吃店,而公園後頭巷子裡是第一傳統市場.
聽著家母細數兒時的記憶,緬懷過往成長的所在.

豐原舊稱葫蘆墩，有一個地方叫做墩仔腳，其實就是一個土堆啦。現在有規劃變成了一個小公園。現在稱之為「墩腳綠園」，也叫做「葫蘆墩遺址」。就在進豐原市區的中正路上，剛過郵局的右手邊。
來這裡除了看一下豐原「葫蘆墩遺址」的土堆之外，這裡有不少傳統攤商。我們比較常去的有入口處的「青草茶舖」，還有更裡面的「草藥舖」都是很經典的商店。另外就是一攤賣炸蚵爹，還有米苔目、仙草塊，還有素粥。都是我們家很常吃的實材。因為很傳統，很有古早味，所以滋味回味無窮。
