The story of Dadu Church: Dadu Presbyterian Church began in 1879 when Pastor Gan Weilin was in Ketou next to Dadu, which is now near the junction of Dadu, Longjing District, where he began evangelism and then set up a gospel church. In 1903, the Changhua Presbyterian Church established a branch in Dadu. The reason for the story: A woman named "Zhao Linguo" was suffering from a disease commonly known as "stinky feet", so she went to the Changhua Medical Center where Dr. David Lan was (now Changhua Christian Hospital). Ms. Zhao was there Hearing the gospel here, she very much hopes that there will be a church in Dadu; Pastor "Mei Jianwu" was also doing street sermons in Dadu at that time. Dr. Lan and Pastor Mei have been missionary partners for many years and heard Ms. Zhao’s expectations. Later, he also decided to set up a church in Dadu. I just wanted to rent a shop in Chia, but encountered many obstacles. The main reason was that people in Dadu area at that time mostly believed in Mazu Niangniang. Christianity was generally regarded as the religion of foreigners and was jokingly called "Fanzijiao." At that time, it was a foreign religion that was greatly discriminated against. Sometimes the owner refuses to rent the house, or there are neighbors during the meeting time... There will be people coming to the church to beat the gongs and drums. There are many conflicts and obstacles. Later, Ms. Zhao donated her house (a bungalow made of mud bricks) to be used by the church, and Ms. Zhao rebuilt the not-distant vegetable garden into her own home. Pastor Mei and Dr. Lan helped her I was very grateful for the dedication, so I gave Ms. Zhao fifty yuan to buy construction materials and salary. Among Ms. Zhao's three earthen corner homes, one was built as a church, one as a living room, and one as a dormitory. On January 27, 1904, the Dadu Chapel was completed for worship. Pastor "Lin Xuegong" presided over the sacrament. At that time, about 60 people attended the service. After the gathering started, the local persecution did not decrease as a result, one year after the inauguration service. At a Sunday gathering, Ms. Zhao’s family members were stolen from her family’s property, clothing, benches, and even sauces for cooking, and dried vegetables from two large urns. The reason is all for donating land. The family members resent Ms. Zhao's family for this.
