★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The so called "dependents village", is an urban and social form that surged under the timely historical background of the retreat of ROC government from the mainland in 1949. The lack of housing for massive amount of public servants created hundreds of not thousands of villages. The residence could be from every corner of the mainland but serves in the same government branch. Many were created before the common ownership of private cars, or scooters even, thus many of the such villages have narrow streets, and the intimate social bonds creat many "third places". The village is a fading form of social group. Many are already demolished, but some presentation efforts are being pursued, as the "dependents village" are still in manys' memories. This particular village is undergone some refurbishment that will preserve it's general form and looking to insert some new use into it.
