Owner is cheap and will screw you if he thinks you don’t know any better.
Bought a second hand car and had it “inspected” here- maybe because he also knew the seller and was trying to help them save costs but told me the car was road ready, and said he added water coolant and transmission fluid and told me the tires and battery were okay to drive for a little longer.
Literally, 2 days after purchasing the car and going through “inspection”, the car battery died, started smoking and making loud, puttering noises while driving and idling.
Ended up taking it to a trustworthy mechanic and spending and extra 10,000NT to all the issues with the car that this guy never even mentioned. And the second mechanic showed me the EMPTY coolant and transmission containers that he didn’t fill and just lied about.
Sad to say, bad first experience with a mechanic in Taiwan but lesson learned, go to a trustworthy worthy place instead. I HIGHLY recommend Jackie Lui 老師 in Dali. Super honest with fair prices and actually hand picked by Taiwan government as the best mechanic/car engineer in the country.
