The quaint ancestral hall of the surname Zhang

This building is a family temple to worship the ancestors of Chang's family. This building was build up in 1912 with mixed traditional Taiwanese and Baroque architecture style. Although it was once nearly destroyed by the great earthquake in 1999, it was rebuild with classical and delicate technique by the family under great support from government. The Zhang family of Nantou moved from Guanxi Town, Pinghe County, Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province. According to Mr. Zhang, the administrator of the Zhang family, the original site of the ancestral hall was in the area of ​​the current Nantou High School. It was moved to the current location in 1912 and was jointly maintained by the Zhang family’s descendants. . It was damaged after the 921 Earthquake, and Mr. Zhang Junhong, a member of the Confucian tribe, sought assistance from the Cultural Association for reconstruction and was partially borne by government subsidies and the Sacrifice Association. The restoration method follows the ancient method and is antique. The Zhang family still meets regularly every year to worship their ancestors. Here you can feel the flow of history and it is a living monument.

The restoration and maintenance of historic buildings are very good. There are also Wenxin Garden, horticultural flower shop restaurant, and East-West culture blending in the surrounding open space.

The ancestral hall of Zhang's surname is a secret place in Nantou City. The surrounding area is empty and clean, and there are no tall buildings to destroy the beauty of the ancestral hall. The building is a combination of Chinese and Western, with a rigorous layout, beautifully harmonized decorative colors, and the internal gardens and cleanliness are maintained, neat and bright. The ancestors are blessed to have these descendants who are cautiously chasing after them.
