Yuantong Temple is located in Guanyin Mountain, Puli Township, and is connected to the four temples of Foguang Temple, Jade Buddha Temple, and Shifahua Temple. It occupies more than one piece of land and is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with streams and rivers in front of it. It is condescending and has a beautiful bell. It can be said to be a cool place for Buddha and an ideal place for spiritual practice. The temple is a jungle of ten directions, and it has always used the precepts and chanting of the Buddha as the main practice method. Since the beginning of the mountain, there has been a uniform male monastery. All monks conform to the Buddhist system and hold summer settlements from April 15th to July 15th. During this period, they will study the sutras and precepts with monks from all over the world. The main hall behind the old hall was completed in December 1993. It is a three-story palace-style building. The first floor is dedicated to the white jade Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, and Jizo Bodhisattva; the second floor is a meditation hall dedicated to the three Western saints. The third floor is the Three Treasure Buddha. The ancestral monk Shengzhao was born in the ninth year of the Republic of China. His ancestral home is Shandong and his vulgar surname is Pan. He loved to learn about Buddhism since he was a child. At the age of 27, he was ordained at the Pudu Temple in Wuchang, Hubei. Three years later, he went to Qingshan, Hong Kong, and was stationed in Donglin, Xi’an. He went to the temple to worship the Buddha at one o'clock in the morning every day, and continued to chant the Buddha day and night. In 1956, the master and apprentice came to Taiwan and placed orders at Linji Temple and Songshan Temple successively. He once lived in Fuhui Jingshe in Mucha, Taipei to study hard. In 1949, he went to Puli Guanyin Mountain to build a temple. The old hall was completed the following year, Ji Tao The lawyer proposed to decide on the name of the temple "Yuantong" in accordance with the spiritual principles of "Surrangama Sutra" "The roots choose Yuantong, and the flow becomes enlightenment", as a dojo for men from the ten directions. Everyone recommends the old monk as the abbot and lawyer Ji Tao as the tutor , Hand-made the permanent residence agreement, with the precepts and chanting of the Buddha as the style; also invited the old Master Shengguan as the administrator, the old Master Zhien as the prison, and the Daohai lawyers were sent to Taiwan and Hong Kong. Later, a new hall was built, which was completed in 1983, and the Wuguantang and monk’s residence were added, making Yuantong Temple a local Buddhist attraction. The current abbot of Yuantong Temple is a lawyer Guo Qing. Shangguo Xiaqing lawyers have successively lectured at Jinglu Temple, Deshan Temple, Lianyin Temple, Yide Temple, Nanputuo Buddhist Academy and other monasteries after the 1986 of the Republic of China on Wisdom, Bodhisattva Precepts, Brahma Net Sutra Bodhisattva Precepts and Bhikkhu Precepts. During the period, he retreats several times, specializes in Amitabha, and submerges in the practice of Pali Sanmai (According to the Sanmai Sutra of Banzhou, it is a kind of pure land practice that worships the Buddha day and night without sitting or lying down for 90 days), both are Puli Zhengjue Abode Abbots, monks, and lawyers are Taiwan’s rigorous and prestigious law school great virtues. There are currently more than forty masters who are resident, and there are more than fifty people during the summer. To practice together with Lv Buddhism and Pure Land Buddhism.

One of the three pure (Bhikchu Buddhist Colleges) in the country (no monks live here) is located in the famous Guanyin Mountain in the west of Puli, next to the other two major Buddhist temples, opposite the tall and beautiful Central Mountains; And quiet.
