華嚴經：戒為無上菩提本，應當一心持淨戒，若能堅持於淨戒，是則如來所讚歎。
持戒要輕重等持，輕戒是為了保護重的戒而施設的，輕的戒不守，重的戒就容易違犯。輕的戒能夠守持，重的戒就犯不到。
