Food is not bad, but nothing outstanding either. Good price if you are in the area.

I ordered a large size of meats but I ended up getting a small size. However, the taste is pretty good so I increased the rating to three stars.

If you’re looking for a place to experience traditional Taiwanese food, this is it!! HuTao is a Taiwanese eatery situated in the Gongguan night market area near NTU campus, it’s only a few minutes walk from the Gongguan MRT station. The interior design and the atmosphere was very delightful, I would say it’s a nice combination of vintage Taiwanese and minimalist modernity, the whole store feels pretty clean and you can get a pretty clear view of what the cooks are doing in the kitchen. The menu offers a variety of delicious traditional Taiwanese street food, their specialty is “rice noodle soup”(米粉湯）, but my personal favorite is their “braised pork sauce noodles”(乾麵）, “braised pork rice”(肉燥飯）is also a must-try, and there’s plenty of side dishes(小菜）that you can order to eat with, I absolutely love their “stewed Chinese cabbage”(滷白菜）and the “braised pig intestines”(滷大腸）and they also have “crispy fried pork”(紅燒肉）if you’re not a fan of pork guts. The only down side of the menu is that they don’t have an English version. If you go there in a group, I definitely recommend you to just order a bunch of side dishes to share, they’re just all so delicious and the price is super friendly too. The overall experience was really great, I’d love to visit the place again.

my overall experience in this restaurant is great. It has a great atmosphere and the food taste great. First of all, we ordered the braised pork rice and 米粉湯 (i dont know to translate that). The braised pork rice taste very good. I like the fact they used pork belly instead of minced pork as the main protein. The 米粉湯 is like chopped noodles in a pork broth with additional toppings of shredded chicken and meatballs as well. The meatballs tasted very good. The broth though is the star. It seems like it had been done over a long period of time and is very flavorful. For side dishes, we ordered the braised tofu, chopped fried pork, and the braised pork jowl. All of it taste okay and compliments your main course pretty well. The fried pork is a bit too pricey though. One bad thing is that they, unlike most restaurants in Taipei, does not offer free drinks.

It is nice and decent traditional Taiwanese foods with a decent setting (not open air) Today I only ordered the side dishes which are; bamboo shoot, cold cucumber, deep fried crispy pork belly and meatball soup. I would say, the Taiwanese meatball has alot better taste than the one in Thailand. Really juicy tasty and yes, a nice crush one.
