Natural and cool trails, there are many butterflies and insects to observe. If you are lucky, you will encounter macaques!

The catwalk at Sun Moon Lake (1020 meters above sea level) has a quiet natural trail. During the Japanese rule, Assam black tea was introduced widely. Therefore, along the way, you can see the scenery of Sun Moon Lake's unique Assam tea garden. The "improved field" still retains historic buildings such as the linden tea plant and dormitory complex. The Maoyushan Weather Station will pass through the northern-looking Ceylon Olive Trees and Autumn Leaves Trail to the Sun Moon Lake Weather Station, which has a wide view so far. This is the highest point of Maoyu Mountain. When the weather is good, you can overlook Jiufen Ershan Mountain, Jiji Mountain, Xiluan Mountain and Puli Basin. The Maoyu Mountain Weather Station can be reached from the mountain road between Mingtan Junior High School and Longfeng Palace Yuelao Temple (about 4.6 kilometers in length). This is the best place to watch the sunrise at Sun Moon Lake. However, because there is no shading in the first half, most single hikers choose the morning mountain. In the weather station on the top of Maoyu Mountain, there are observation pavilions and barrier-free public toilets. [Hiking Trail Information] The first section of the trail runs from the mountain climbing entrance to the fishery sub-field of the Agricultural Committee Tea Improvement Center in the middle of the mountain. The distance is about 3.3 kilometers and the height is from 750 meters to 850 meters above sea level. The second section is from Chachangchang to the Sun Moon Lake Meteorological Station of the Central Meteorological Bureau. The distance is about 1.3 kilometers and the height is from 850 meters to 1005 meters. The slope of the rear section of this road is quite large, and there are many rest observation platforms along the way.
