依傳說主祀林元帥緣係侯氏祖上大恩人，概在明代時期侯姓先氏原姓劉，被奸黨陷害，將有滅門之虞，時林元帥奉旨滅劉族，但於心不忍大發慈悲暗中指點以劉姓改姓侯，放之逃命而得免於難。但林元帥三兄弟犧牲之後，侯姓子孫為感佩林元帥之恩德逐將其奉祀神氏，歷代繼承傳仰，香馨不絕以至今；每逢農曆六月十二日為紀念林元帥祭日，侯姓子孫無論出外皆歸鄉至廟奉香祭拜。

Mercy secretly instructed to change the surname of Liu to Hou, and let him escape to avoid trouble. However, after the sacrifice of the three brothers of Marshal Lin, the descendants of Hou surnamed him enshrined them to the gods in gratitude for the kindness of Marshal Lin, and they have been passed down from generation to generation, and the fragrance has never ceased to this day; The descendants of Hou surname all return home to the temple to worship incense no matter they go out.
