【Mailiao Gongfan Palace - Kaishan Mazu】 Gongfan Palace is one of the Mazu temples with a long history in Yunlin area. It has a history of more than 330 years and was listed as a national monument in 101. Together with Beigang Chaotian Palace, Baozhong Mamingshan Town An Palace and Tai'an Xifu, they are collectively known as the four major temples in Yunlin. 【Historical Evolution】 Mailiao Gongfan Palace was founded in the 24th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1685). The old Zen master of Chaotian Pavilion respectfully invited Liuma from Chaotian Pavilion to cross the sea to Taiwan and landed at Haifeng Port (now Liuqing Port) in Yunlin. The statue of Mazu was temporarily enshrined in Haifeng. On Hong Kong Street, since the sixth mother was able to respond to all requests and perform miracles, local believers prayed for Mazu to stay permanently and proposed to build a temple, which was named "Gongfan Palace", praying for the meaning of "safety and prosperity of the living beings in the protection area". During the reign of Qianlong, the Xinhuwei River flooded, and the water rushed into the downstream Haifeng Port, causing the port to be buried, causing heavy damage to the local area, and the villagers were displaced. During the Japanese occupation period (1906), floods caused the Wenchang Temple to be damaged. The statues in the temple were moved to Gongfan Palace, and the Gongfan Palace was raised to the foundation by more than three feet using the bricks of the old Wenchang Temple. In 1930, it was expanded and rebuilt. Wang Shufa, a craftsman from Xidi School in Quanzhou, China, was in charge of the main hall and worship hall; Lin Huoyin, a disciple of Chen Yingbin, a craftsman from Zhangzhou, Taiwan, was responsible for the Sanchuan Hall and the apse, forming a special front and back work. Gongfan Palace also preserves wood carvings, stone carvings and Cochin pottery, etc., exquisite works made by famous craftsmen at that time, so Gongfan Palace was listed as a national historic site in 101 of the Republic of China. 【The miracle of Mazu】 "The aunt is in the palace, the second mother is married, the third mother is dedicated, the fourth mother goes to war, the fifth mother makes up, and the sixth mother opens the mountain." This proverb means that the Mazu of Mailiao Gongfan Palace perform their own duties and have their own expertise. The palace chronicles have repeatedly recorded the miracle of Mazu warning of the impending disaster, helping believers to avoid it. According to legend, during the Japanese occupation period, Japanese officers planned to requisition Gongfan Palace as the office building and move Mazu out of the palace. Unexpectedly, Mazu appeared to warn him, so the Japanese army gave up the idea and ordered a Japanese mikoshi to be given to Mazu. During World War II, Taiwan was repeatedly attacked by the Allied forces. In order to protect the villagers, Mazu used crows or dark clouds to disrupt the sight of the bombers and let the bombs fall in the fields or rivers to protect the villagers from the persecution of the war.
