★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 「千歲檜」位於海拔2215公尺阿里山香山神木附近，為一棵雙叉的紅檜巨木，樹齡約為2000年，樹高35公尺，胸圍11公尺，。千歲檜在日治十七大，當時林務官認為其樹木形狀看起來像似雙手高舉喊「萬歲」（日文表示歡呼的意思）姿態，而命名萬歲檜。直到1976年當時中華民國副總統謝東閔先生，認為只有兩千年的年齡不應該取為萬歲檜，從那以後就稱呼為「千歲檜」。千歲檜旁邊有座博愛亭，內有國父頌詩文，旁邊則是第一巨木群的起點。
 "Chitose cypress" is located at an altitude of 2215 meters near the sacred tree of the Fragrant Mountain in Alishan. It is a double-forked giant red cypress, about 2000 years old, 35 meters high, and 11 meters bust. Chitose cypress was ruled at the Seventeenth National Congress of Japan. At that time, the forest officer thought that its tree shape looked like a gesture of shouting "Long live" (Japanese for cheering) with both hands, and named it Long live cypress. Until 1976, the then Vice President of the Republic of China, Mr. Xie Dongmin, believed that the age of only two thousand years should not be taken as long live juniper. Since then, it has been called "Chitose juniper." Next to the Chitose cypress, there is a Boai Pavilion with poems about the father of the nation, and next to it is the starting point of the first giant group of trees.

Take a bus from Alishan Station to Shenmu Station, and walk on the trail to Chitose Cypress. When it rains, only the children have good legs and go straight up.

"Chitose cypress" is a giant red cypress tree with two forks. The tree is about 2000 years old, the tree is 35 meters high, and the tree bust measures 11 meters. Forest officials in the Japanese occupation period thought that the tree shape resembled a gesture of shouting long live with both hands raised, and named it the long live juniper. Until the return of Taiwan in 1976, Mr. Xie Dongmin, Vice President, inspected Alishan and believed that the Banzai cypress was only two thousand years old and should not be named Long Live.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 千歲檜，日治時代舊稱「萬歲檜」， 因樹形為棵雙叉的紅檜巨木，狀似雙手高舉喊萬歲（日文表示歡呼之意），因此而得名。千歲檜旁有一座博愛亭，亭內立有一碑牆，刻有「國父頌」碑文。這座涼亭並沒有任何導覽解說，所以經過的遊客並不曉得這裡是阿里山神社的遺址。 亭前經過千歲檜的石階步道，是昔日的神社參道。
Chitose cypress, formerly known as "Long live cypress" during the Japanese occupation period, is named after the tree is a giant red cypress tree with two forks, which looks like hands raised high and shouts "Long live" (meaning cheering in Japanese). There is a pavilion of fraternity beside the Chitose cypress. Inside the pavilion is a monument wall with the inscription "Ode to the Father of the Nation". This pavilion does not have any guided tours, so tourists passing by do not know that this is the site of the Alishan Shrine. In front of the pavilion, there is a stone stair walk through Chitose cypress trees, which is the way to go to the shrine in the past.

Imagine how many historical events in the world has the tree sustained and gone thru.
It is very crowded though.
