Chen Dejutang, also known as the Chen Family Temple, was built during the Yongli period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 300 years. There are two opinions about the owner of this family temple. One is the mansion of Chen Ze, the right pioneer of the Ming Dynasty, and the mansion of Chen Yonghua, the chief executive officer of Dongning. Later, Huang Dianquan, a professor in the Department of History of Chenggong University, pointed out that the memorial tablet in the hall mixed Chen Ze and Chen Yonghua as one person because of the misidentification of their ancestors a hundred years ago. The Kaizhang Saint King was enshrined from the Chen Deju Hall, and Chen Ze was from Haicheng Xialiao in Zhangzhou, and Chen Yonghua was from Tongan, Quanzhou. Therefore, Chen Dejutang should obviously be the former residence of Chen Ze. After the Qing court took over Taiwan, the Chen family built it into the Chen family temple and became the place where the Chen family's ancestral temple is located throughout Taiwan. From the "Hanhua Shengzao" plaque in the 32nd year of Kangxi (1693) on the main hall, Chen Dejutang should have been renamed as a family temple in this year. The building of Chen Dejutang sits east and west, with three wide rooms in the center and side rooms on both sides. On the central axis, there are the main entrance, the atrium, the worship hall and the main hall in order, and the entrance of the main entrance is concave. On both walls of the main hall, there are murals painted by painter Chen Yufeng. Since Chen Dejutang used to be the residence of the right pioneer Chen Ze, also known as "Commander Mansion", the alley next to it was called "Commander Alley". This Chen family temple was originally designated as a third-class historic site of the Republic of China and is now in Tainan The municipality is designated as a historical site.

There is a large square at the entrance. The interior space is spacious and clean, but there are no cultural relics. The rooms next to it are also locked. It may be better to wait for an event.

Quiet family temple, and it’s free to visit. There was a joint market a while ago, and it was also used as a venue for the National Cheng Kung University Architecture Department exhibition. The wall paintings are all the works of Master Chen Yufeng!

There are traditional art exhibitions of oil painting here, and there are also markets, but there are not many stalls, the weather is bad and there are showers, and there are not many people.
