★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 杉本音吉（1873年－1928年）、1895年に台湾へ渡り、基隆から台南そして高雄一帯全ての港湾運送業の元締めとなり、高雄を一大貿易港へ発展させた功労者。没後に従二位に叙され、市内を見下ろす寿山の中腹に慰霊塔が建立された。
台湾の歴史の中に、こういう傑物がいたのを知らなかった。
Otokichi Sugimoto (1873-1928), moved to Taiwan in 1895, and was the forerunner of Kaohsiung's development as a major trading port, underpinning the port transportation business in Keelung, Tainan, and the entire Kaohsiung region. After his death, he was placed in second place and a memorial tower was erected on the hillside of Mt. Kotobuki overlooking the city.
I didn't know that there was such a masterpiece in Taiwan's history.
