 After the Sino-Japanese War, the Qing court ceded Taiwan to Japan. The Japanese Second Division Infantry Regiment landed in the south of the Checheng City and successfully captured Hengchun City. In order to commemorate the siege war, the army of the dead army set up a loyal soul monument on the Monkey Cave.
