The scenery along the road is really beautiful, which makes people linger and forget to return. It is a place that you must visit once in your life, but don't leave the garbage here and remember to take it away~

The entrance archway of Taiwan Zhongheng Highway is one of the tourist attractions in Xiulin Township, Hualien County. It is located at the intersection of the bridgehead at the south end of Jinwen Bridge and Zhongheng Highway, with an elevation of 60 meters. ]. The four characters "Luge Changchun" are engraved on the rock wall beside the road, and an observation deck is set up near the Taroko archway for tourists to stop and watch its scenic spots[4][5].
The government of the Republic of China built an archway with the inscription "East-West Crossing Highway" in order to symbolize Taiwan's first east-west crossing highway, so it is also called the east-west crossing highway archway. 3]. After the opening of the Zhongheng Highway on May 9, 1960, the Taroko Archway can be seen by the drivers passing by. This archway has a Chinese palace-like appearance [3].
Because of its location, the Taroko Archway is not only the place where the Zhongheng Highway leads to the Taroko Gorge, but also because the Jinwen Bridge is the only bridge on the Suhua Highway that passes through Liwu River, making the Taroko Tower next to the Jinwen Bridge. The pavilion is the only place where the Suhua Highway must pass. In order to improve the traffic jam on the two sides of the Taroko pavilion, which is located on the Zhongheng Highway and the Suhua Highway, the General Administration of Highways built the Taroko in February 1999. The bridge cuts the Suhua Highway and straightens it. After it was opened in July 2002, although the Suhua Highway did not pass through the Taroko archway, the Jinwen Bridge and the original road (the Tarokokou-Upper Chongde section were later adapted as Flower 2 lines) are still preserved [6][7].
On March 29, 2005, the Cultural Construction Committee registered as a historic building in accordance with the "Cultural Assets Preservation Law" to represent the commemorative significance of the ancestors opening the Zhongheng Highway [2]. The Taroko archway was in disrepair for a long time, and the Taroko National Park Management Office renovated it to cooperate with the series of activities of "The 50th Anniversary of the Opening of Zhongheng Highway", so as to complete the restoration before the event on May 9, 2010 [8]. To this day, the Taroko Archway is still a landmark building that symbolizes entering the Zhongheng Highway, and it is also a scenic spot where tourists stop to take pictures on their way to the Taroko Gorge[5][9].
The main body of the Taroko archway adopts the three-room, four-column and three-story style. The eaves are in the form of a single eaves and a hall roof, covered with golden glazed tiles, but the color of the glazed tiles has changed due to the sun and rain for many years. The column body is in vermilion, and the corridor between the columns is "one room". Because the Taroko archway is designed with four columns, there are three rooms on the left, middle and right. The eaves of each room are designed as eaves. Therefore, there are three in total, which are used for water supply and drainage. On the two lintels of the main building, "Double Dragons Grab the Pearl" is painted, and six plaques are erected between the two big lintels. Arrange in order: "east", "west", "horizontal", "through", "public", "road". The eaves of each room are decorated with ridge animals. The main building has a ridge animal on each end of the main ridge, and each of the four vertical ridges has a ridge animal; There are two vertical ridges, so the ridge beast is designed with one vertical ridge and two vertical ridges, so there are six ridge beasts in total. The bases of the columns below the Taroko archway are all made of uncarved white pillars, and there is a stone lion on one side of the archway, and the other side is not set because it is close to the rock wall.
As for the 6-character "East-West Crossing Highway" inscribed on the archway, it is from Wang Zhuangwei, a contemporary Taiwanese calligrapher. [10]
