It used to be the director’s dormitory of the Shoutang Factory (Shoutangchang) of Saltwater Port Sugar Co., Ltd. It was built in the 2nd year of Taisho (1913). After the war, the Hualien Farm Guest House became the Guidance Committee for Retired Officers and Soldiers. President Jiang Zhongzheng also took a rest here when he visited Hualien, so he also got the title of "Jiang's Residence." The entire building of Hualien Farm Guest House is a wooden structure covered with Japanese roof tiles, and a large number of windows are opened on both sides of the wall to make the interior light enough and bright. Although the exterior and courtyard have been partially rebuilt after the war, its exterior remains the same at that time. There is a pattern, the remaining doors and windows and the roof form can all be seen in the style of Japanese wooden architecture. It was registered as a historical building in Hualien County in 1994.
