I came here twice for souvenirs for my family and some goodies to snack on in the hotel room. I would get their original and honey flavored pastries.
I suggest going earlier in the morning when there is nobody.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the oldest places in Taichung to get sun cakes. There are a variety of different ones, but we stick to the original flavor. You can buy it in 10, 20, and 30 count. They also sell individually wrapped or in a stack of 5 depending on your preference. Great gift to bring to others outside of Taichung.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent service. Handed a suncake and tea as soon as you enter the shop. A lot of varieties and test tries to taste. About 6-7 people serving so service is very attentive. Sun cake is the best I’ve tried so far in Taichung, I tried a few others but they were disappointing. This one is very fresh and crisp perfectly. Turns to dust kinda ordeal when you bite into it. Sweetness is acceptable although a little less sweet would have made it perfect. Definitely coming back here to restock everytime I am in Taichung.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ highly recommend 彩头酥，芋泥酥！ate them right after them coming, super good, must-eat pastry in Taichung or even Taiwan, soooooo good! Definitely come again, the owner is so generous, and there is a lot of samples for costumes. Remember to eat those pastries while they’re warm! The taste will change if they become cold
