Auntie's Barber Shop

Pricey side of Taipei hair cuts but boyfriend (visiting from US) gets his haircut every week in the states and found this little barbershop through Instagram photos. He got the exact haircut he wanted (using whatever barber lingo) and enjoyed getting his hair washed before and after the cut, and a hot towel facial massage and shave for 800 NT. The barbershop was just what he needed in Taipei!

BE AWARE : this place ia not worth your money I usually never spend time commenting and reviewing but this time I really had to. Don't know how they get their 4.6 star as seriously this is far from that. 1. Let me start by the place and the environment. It is NOT clean and definitely does not make you feel right in a place starting at $800 cut. It's old school, material as well, and there is no real hair washing seat. 2. Yes, you don't seat like the usual hair dresser with your head toward the back and the designer washing your head, here you are having your head being washed either on your seat (with no sink) or in a sink which is usually used for hand washing so your head is leaning toward the front and you have water splashing all over your face and even clothes. Worst of it, we don't even give you a towel to clean up and you get water spilling all over the place. 3. Professionalism, for me there was not much of professionalism when the designer is more interested in watching nba game than cutting your hair. He would pause several times for 20-30s to watch the game and just stop completely. Now the hair, I have hinted a few times on the use of the trimmer (over usage for me) but it did not seem to work in the end, most of the cut, including beard style, was done using trimmer, for such a high end price, this is not what I was expecting. I could have done it myself with my trimmer at home. Even the hair was disappointing, I still have extra hair on the sides when brushing toward the back that I have asked to get rid of but being told "it would not look good". I have returned to my $100 hair dresser after that and he cut it and it looks all great. Why saying that ? Overall comment is I seriously do not recommend their services, they are charging way too much for what they are offering

Honestly, it's the barber shop which I had the best experience in Taipei. Why? Let me explain in the next three parts. Firstly, auntie asked gently about which style I wanna cut. So I asked her to cut a pompadour, which I got literally an old-fashioned one. Second part is to wash your hair. She washed my hair by letting me sit on the chair. It's actually a traditional way, which I enjoyed a lot. The last but not least is the "after-washing" part. She carefully cared your eyebrows, barbe, face by using some skin-care products. And even cut them to be more "organized". Briefly, an amazing experience?

Finally found a fantastic barber shop that are always welcoming, and all the barbers are so skilled! One of the best in Taipei! Best #fade cut...hands down!
