★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An old fisherman's market transformed to a tourist attraction. The north eastern coast of Taiwan was famous for breeding abalone and lobster, and fishing. Beiguan was a market place that the fishermen and the breeders gathered and selling their catch.
Then more and more small fish harbors and the coastal express way were built. The catches could be transported to the major cities like Taipei more rapidly. Beiguan gradually lost its position as a market. However, it is still famous for its rocky shore and developed a tourist attraction. The old market place has become a tourist center and a trail has been built for tourists to appreciate the rocky sea shore.
More and more cafes have been established because of the increasing number of tourists. You can find restaurants even at the neighboring small harbors because their seafood is mostly fresh.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the best place to see turtle island and rock formation. The abundant variety of the vegetation is stunning. The only thing I don’t like is the old trail construction, it needs an update. Ruin the view. But other than that, it’s a great 1 hour short walk.

There’re a few nice hiking trails where you can enjoy a decent walk
