Participate in the Bilu Mountain of Chiayi Mountain Association on the weekend, stay at the guesthouse near the mountain pass on Saturday evening, and board from 3:30 in the morning. Before climbing, I asked the mountain friends what they need to prepare for this trip, and the reply I got was "stamina". As a result, when I climbed up to the summit, the "physical strength" was gone. When I went down the mountain, I spent the "persistence" first, and relied on the "vitality" in the middle to barely reach the mountain pass. This journey was really hard for me, and the idea of "just don't go back" arose many times during the return journey down the mountain.
The one-day trip to Bilu Mountain in one day is said to be the third most difficult itinerary in Taiwan on the Internet. The main reason is that you must walk 8.4 kilometers on the 820 forest road to reach the mountain pass. This forest road is actually not difficult to walk, but it is too long and will consume a lot of physical strength. It takes about 3 hours to reach 8.4 kilometers, and then there is an endless steep rise of 800 meters for 2 kilometers. The total steepness is like Guguan Qixiong Bojinga, but it rises from 2550 meters above sea level to 3350 meters. To be honest, at this altitude, the thin air causes the heartbeat to break 150 after climbing a few steps, and the lack of oxygen will reduce the resilience of people. In this state, it is really necessary to advance slowly step by step, otherwise the symptoms of high mountains are prone to occur.
There are many rock climbing terrains during the ascent of Bilu Mountain. There are several key points in climbing this mountain. 1. Don't come on rainy days, because it's easy to skid when going down the mountain, and it takes 7 days to get home. 2. You need to wear gloves, because you have to pull the rope up and down the mountain. My new gloves wear out a lot of holes in one trip, at least it didn't hurt your hands. 3. Wear headlights. Since you start early in the morning, you will only come out in the evening when there are conditions. Headlights are a must. 4.30% physical strength + 70% willpower. Then, God, if you take a look, you will be able to enjoy the wonderful scenery on the top of the mountain. The Hehuan/Qilai/Yushan peaks are unobstructed, which is comparable to the mountain scenery of the South Peak of Qilai last time I visited.
After going up to the top of the mountain at about 10 o'clock, after taking a quick photo shoot and eating instant noodles, because of fear of traffic jams on the way (some routes can only be used by one person), I quickly descended the mountain. But going up and down the mountain is even more painful. The pain is steep and the road is full of coniferous forest fallen leaves + tree roots. It is slippery enough to walk, and sometimes I really want to go straight down for a hundred. The second bitterness is that the physical strength is exhausted when going up the mountain, and it is really weak when going down the mountain. I have to grab the branches and trunks with both hands, and slide down on the ground with the buttocks, so that I can support to the 8.4K mountain climbing. Then rest in the valley for 20 minutes, and then start walking the 820 forest road.
However, at this time I really squeeze all my energy. The 8.4-kilometer 820 forest road is as difficult as hell. Basically, you have to rest at least once for every 1 kilometer you walk, and you have to rest twice per kilometer for the remaining 3 kilometers, and finally at PM 4 Get out of the forest road at about 40 o'clock. The trip took more than 13 hours, with a total length of 20.8 kilometers and a cumulative climb of 957 meters. After crawling, I was so tired that I didn't want to eat and couldn't sleep, because the whole body was burning, and it didn't feel normal until 2 hours. However, although this is a journey that is hard enough to make people think about life, the beautiful scenery that you enjoy at the same time makes people feel hard and worthwhile (if you encounter heavy fog on the mountain...), I recommend people who are climbing. Come to Bilu and taste the "Bilu Mountain", the four-spicy in the middle of the horizontal line.

There are "live water" before and after the 8.4k camp for climbers to obtain the necessary water. If they have the ability to attack Bilu on the same day, the sheephead must reach this camp at least around 4-5 am. Take Bilu (8.4K + 1.6k) ) Go down the sheep's head (3.8K) and go down the hill. . . Of course it is very difficult to get these two in one day

There is a clean water source next to the Bilu Mountain Hotel, which can be used for processing. It is the last camp to advance to Bilu Mountain, so many mountain friends camp here for the night, and they will attack the summit again in a breath. It is recommended that friends who come to Bilu Mountain must be equipped. Come in again, such as raincoats, alpine medicine, and windbreakers. It is especially important. You must do your homework early in the mountains to change the weather, so as not to lose your interest, but in terms of difficulty, I personally think that this route is quite good. No other Baiyue has been rising sharply, although it is a steep rise to the back (top attack), but I still feel tired to walk. After all, it takes 20 kilometers to go back and forth. It only takes a long time to walk the forest road, and friends who are willing to use the app to avoid mistakes. After time, please also remind you to bring your headlights, because the terrain is undulating and it is dangerous to rush on the road at night, so please trouble, otherwise you will be home in seven days!

The camp here will not be very large, but it is flat and comfortable. There are water sources for the two small cuts at the front and rear, and there are also Bunun people who cooperate to serve here. It is a very comfortable camp!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I believe this is what is called the Headwaters Campground. This is located on an elevated area of the 820 Forestry Road, on the 8.4km mark. You need to do a steep climb from the water source to get here, and you also need to downclimb the other side to get to the relentlessly steep Mt. Bilu trailhead. The campground is flat and since it is on some sort of a mini-plateau, not much animals wander on the campsite itself. There are a lot of spiders during the night, and you can still hear a lot of animal noises.
Had the chance to spend the night here with my girlfriend last 26-27 December 2019, and there were no other hikers during that time. There are a lot of human artefacts that are left here (chopping boards, tarps, big water bottles and even pillows). There are also a lot of human excrement that are left out in the open on what is considered as the “toilet area”. I wish people will dig proper cat holes and take the wetwipes with them as these does not decompose.
