★ ★ ★ ★ ★ While not precisely an Italian restaurant, the carbonara and pizza certainly were the most authentic I’ve had since traveling to Italy. Definitely on the higher end price wise. The service and quality of food make the experience worthwhile. Excellent ambience further adds to an oasis in the well established Taichung food culture. Worth a stop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Their food is 5/5 stars, had the lasagna and vegetarian pasta. However, their mixed drinks are terrible. The picture provided is a mojito... In a whiskey glass =/ and barely any rum in it. Enjoy your food with red wine or something else, just stay away from the mixed drinks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I woke up with a craving for a seafood salad for breakfast, and I knew just where to go. Bistro 88 is one of my favorite Western restaurants in Taichung as it always delivers with the ambiance, the quality, the freshness, and the flavors. The crispy Prawn Salad was wonderfully satisfying with the prawns being perfectly cooked and served on a bed of organic greens, tossed with mozzarella, roasted almonds, cherry tomatoes, and wedges of fresh fruit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been here a few times and like the place a lot. Friendly staff, good food, nice ambience. The place can get busy for brunch, and the price tag can be a bit high for select dishes. Choose from the menu carefully and you will enjoy it.
Added Apr 8, 2021: only one staff at 9:30AM serving four tables. Was told that employees have all quit... high turnover is a serious issue at this restaurant. One of our entrees did not arrive until long after another one’s is finished.
