We went here by accident and then stayed because we missed our bus. But it is a nice quiet center. There were less people here than other places along the Toroko gorge route.

Important: Only two return buses available towards Hualien, one at 2pm another at 4.30 or so pm. Check bus timings carefully before planning Has nice places to sit and have lunch. View from "meandering trail" observation decks is beautiful! Can easily spend lot of time just enjoying the natural beauty and cool wind, weather permitting. Have to walk a lot upstairs to reach the "bamboo trail", but i couldnt find it. Note: There is no water cooler in this area. You can either buy in the upstairs souvenir shop or request to the service station staff.

Make sure you stop at the restaurant on the top floor. Very delicious and hearty food made with natural ingredients. We ordered vegetarian set meal and dumplings. Both very good. Set meal cost us 250 NT$ and dumplings were 120 NT$, very reasonable! Went there to eat every single day we were in Taroko and even ordered dumplings for takeaway when leaving Taroko. Really friendly staff as well.

I took the shuttle here based on the description from the pamphlet you get with the shuttle, and it was a waste of an hour. There is very little to see and do here. I'd recommend to skip this place

most people didn't stop by here, but it has such a good view of the mountains, not the river down below still very calm giving you a chance to relax somewhere in between trails. try some ice cream, taro is my favorite and dehydrate yourself before moving on. oh if you're looking for a place to spwnd the nigjt, there is a local aboriginal b&b.just above the upper terrace

Nice visitor centre - there is currently some improvement construction happening - a new suspension bridge is being constructed which will add more to see here. Nice to walk around and enjoy the scenery

Make a reservation or plan to wait about 30 minutes otherwise. Great food options for meat lovers and vegetarians. Authentic, aboriginal food served here in a gorgeous wooden restaurant with spectacular views of green landscapes outside. Each meal you pick comes as a set with a bunch of side dishes and their famous bamboo rice. As you are seated, you may wonder what that loud pounding noise is. Look towards the kitchen area and you’ll see employees with bamboo sticks filled with steamed rice, breaking the bamboo over a square rock. The steamed rice inside is delicious and has a sticky texture along with a thin skin around the edges. Soup served with each set. The sweet potato was a little dry. I got their baked tilapia that came with super fatty fish. Delicious in flavor. Matt got their beef stew and was perfectly satisfied. My set came with some millet wine, a traditional wine made from rice. Very strong, supposed to help stimulate digestion and keep you relaxed. Free iced sweetened plum tea (roasted and non roasted, go for the roasted it is spectacular) and iced sweetened black tea to help yourself to. They also have a coffee and tea station. Each set costs 420NT - 600NT. We paid 1990NT for 3 people.
