This is our go to ER hospital. We've always had very good experiences here. Spent a couple of days here with my sick infant, we were very impressed at their level of professionalism and genuine interest. The downside is that it can get CRAZY busy here on the weekends. If you can, get your appointment during the week.

Definitely DO NOT recommend this hospital especially as a foreigner. Just because it’s private does not mean it’s good. Been dealing with the same issue here for over a month. Most of that time has been taken up with wrong information about doctors, attempting to make appointments and instead waiting for hours because, even after getting an MRI no appointment will be given. And since you have to call in at 6am, know which doctor you need to book and schedule that in Chinese, your wait times will be bull$@&! Usually don’t have time to write bad reviews but waiting for over 4 hours today for a single doctor I was just charged to has given me plenty of time!

Hello, I don’t even know where to start, I live in The Gambia and my sister needs cardiovascular surgery but it can’t be done in The Gambia. The doctors in Gambia have done all they could... we just want to fly her out to Cathay General and get the surgery done to safe her life.. I don’t know how to go about it. I went to Cathay’s website it was not in English... Hoping for a Miracle 26th April 2021

Do not go to this hospital for the PCR test. They charge 3x as much as other hospitals.

Efficient. Seeing a doctor, with X ray and EKG was $42 CAD (NT$1000). Doctors speak English. Good place for foreigners and tourists to visit.

I had my reservations before about this hospital due to spending the majority of my time abroad and only now immigrating back here. After being as objective as I could, I have to say the staff here is very professional and they take their work with pride. I feel you will get one of the best medical care treatment as well as nursing care here. I've had the opportunity to come to this hospital to care for patients on three separate occasions within the span of two years and I would without hesitation acquire their medical services here myself.

With their NHI health insurance card and your credit card, visiting the hospital is a seamless experience. Arranged for a respiratory checkup last night and managed to book a slot the next day. Went in for consultation, and had a chest X-ray ($570) done all in an hour. DVD is $200, while report requires 3 working days to be ready. It took an hour not because they’re inefficient, but because I couldn’t find my way around. Only con - attitude of certain counter staff may have room for improvement. While most of them are friendly and helpful, some are just plain rude. Understand that working in a stressful environment may make you jaded, but basic courtesy is appreciated.

Overall, this is the "best" NHI hospital I've found in Taipei, but my experience has been hit or miss. I have received good care from a couple of the specialists here. Making appointments online, picking up prescriptions, doing blood tests and paying for services at a kiosk are all straightforward and efficient. However, other parts of my experience haven't been so good. Some of the doctors I've seen didn't provide care that lived up to their impressive credentials on paper. One even made an inappropriate/insulting comment. The hospital is often packed with throngs of people exercising poor social distancing and I've experienced wait times over 2 hours. There are frustrating inefficiencies. For example, to get lab results, you have to make another appointment and physically come to the hospital. In terms of internal medicine, I've found that, compared to the US, the doctors are a lot more rushed and aggressive in ordering X-rays and prescribing medication. I recently went in to address stomach issues and came out with 4 prescriptions. To be fair, I think some of these issues are related to how medicine is practiced in Taiwan and aren't specific to this hospital. NHI doctors in Taiwan generally have to see way too many patients per day, and the quality of care clearly suffers as a result. Overall, I think Cathay General is "good" as far as public hospitals go in Taiwan and I will continue coming for one of the specialists I like and any very basic needs, but I've moved on to private practices for almost everything else that's urgent or important.
