Not so friendly or knowledgeable staff. 2 times I asked about particular GEPT books and was told they don't know( wouldn't check,) then was assured that I could order one only to find out 5 days later that is was discontinued. People seem too lazy to check the stock or ISBN numbers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Caves is a generally good bookstore with a mix of children's books, manga, novels, boardgames, and stationary etc. in mostly Chinese, but with a considerable English section.
With the increased availability of free international shipping and ebooks, the English book section has taken something of a hit. The novel section is shrinking and seems to be made up mostly of commercial fiction and film novelizations. In contrast though, the children's book selection is great and suitable for all ages.
On the fourth floor you'll find the education book section with a vast selection of English and foreign language learning materials. This place is great for people looking for tutoring or homeschool material
Service on the 1st and 4th floor is great, yet the 3rd floor clerks seem to have something of a chip on their shoulders.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best English bookstore in Taichung.
It contains a floor with English books for ages of 4 and above, so it is a great place for parents to get books to help their kids in the early years.
Aside from general reading materials (novels, biographies, etc...), they also carry reference books (Atlas, Almanacs, Dictionaries) as well as some games in English. The staff can help in ordering (some) books if they are not available.
You may also find English magazines on the first floor.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best book stores I've visited. I am an Extensive Reading enthusiast, and I found lots lots of graded readers here. Some say it's rather pricey, but when I have none of ELI publishers (of which graded readers are of mu favorite) in my country, I could spare the money :D and, the staff are soooo friendly and helpful. In fact, one of them helped my friend to look for the only one book left. It took time but I could tell she tried her best, and she found it!! Then the other helped us booked a taxi! Amazing! It's certainly a recommended book store in Taichung.
