People called the deity worshipped here the ”Four-Faced Buddha” （四面佛, SiMianFo）, according to Wikipedia, the deity is also called the ”Four-Faced God” （四面神, SimianShen）. The deity had been introduced from Thailand to Taiwan not long ago. From my own observation, the deity has been popular here only for decades, maybe 3, or at most 4 decades. The deity is called Phra Phrom in Thai, who according to Buddhist cosmology is lord of Brahmaloka (the highest heavenly realm), He is regarded as the deity of good fortune and protection. But we only know the names of SiMianFo or SiMianShen in Taiwan. It’s interesting, for Buddhism here in Taiwan mainly is the teaching of Mahayana ( "Great Vehicle" 大乘佛教）, while the teaching in Thailand should be "Hinayana" ("small/deficient vehicle" 小乘佛教. But Hinayana was proposed to be changed into "Nikaya Buddhism"上座部佛教 in 1950), I’m not sure if deities worshipped by Mahayana teaching and Hinayana teaching are exactly same, but SiMianFo is really new for me. This temple (shrine) is a small one, but very popular. I came across here several times in the nights, on my way to a movie theater nearby. it was thronged with worshippers, a lot of flower wreaths were offered, and a lot of incense was burnt, the smokes drifted upward, bringing the wishes to the deity to be honored. Quite some commenters in Google Map said they came here, because they were told that SiMianFo（especially here）was efficacious, and some claimed the deity was really efficacious. I came here again yesterday (the 24th of March), and found that there were at least 5 flower shops around this shrine. SiMianFo is a good attraction for people that generate good business. 去國賓影城長春路看電影，下捷運，走路，通常會經過這個地方，經常有好多善男信女，通常都是年輕的，擺了滿滿的花，所燒的香的味道和台灣傳統的味道不一樣。 看來應該是頗靈驗的吧。
