★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Confucius Temple in Changhua was almost a national first-class monument that was demolished to cover shopping malls.
It was built in 1726, 4 years of the Qing Dynasty Yongzheng.
The architecture of Zhangzhou style is slightly different from that of Tainan Confucian Temple.
During the Japanese occupation period, it was the seat of the Changhua Public School of the "National Language Center". In 1906, part of the wall door was demolished in the "urban correction plan".
In 1971, the Taiwan Provincial Government and Changhua County Government once planned to demolish the Confucian Temple and sell land to cover shopping malls. Later it was demolished for renovation due to local opposition.
In 1983, it was designated as a national monument.
