★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Old and charming Japanese-style house which houses a museum. free entry but need to take off your shoes.
Inside you can learn about the town of Chiayi, Alishan and Japanese colonial legacy. Very interesting though not much explanation in English available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are traveling to Alishan and stopping in Chiayi I'd recommend to explore the parks here. If your Mandarin isn't so good then this place isn't the best, I didn't understand a thing ?

It is a restaurant inside and sell a souvenirs.
Small musuem only available in chinese, no English
There is small garden behind the musuem
The staff service is aggrassive and confusing
The soft-serve ice cream selling in front of the ticket booth taste nice
but a bit pricey.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The museum is quite small, but I love the japanese style architecture. You'll be able to learn a lot, however unfortunately there's no english text inside. They also sell some unique gifts and souvenirs, but the price is a bit expensive. They also sell great teas and cakes, also a bit expensive. However the atmosphere of the cafe gave such a cozy ambience, and with the garden view, it was such a relaxing seating area.
