★ ★ ★ ★ ★ love to see historical place, this old prison is interesting. it is free of charge with a tourguide in Chinese language, but she spoke small English. The place itself express it pretty well. They openby fixed schedule, check the timetable before reaching there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tour was about an hour long and it's in Mandarin so I didn't understand most of it. There's probably an English tour but i have no info. I get to see the inside of the old prison and some artefacts.
Unless you're a prison enthusiast and can understand Mandarin, it's just so so.
They only open during specific time slots, so please check google just in case it changes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well preserved buildings of a Japanese-built prison include exhibits of prison memorabilia, prison models, and community artwork. Tours are in Chinese, but guide suggested that I wander about on my own. Free admission, though I think you need to enter at a tour time; 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 1:30 pm, or 2:30 pm, except closed Monday.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's an great historic place to look around since Taiwan under Japan rule era. There are four open sessions with a Chinese speaking tour guide for visitors. You must join either one session group as the site restoration is not yet completed but you can wander around yourself during the tour. Each session last about an hour. You will learn a lot from the tour guide if you do understand Mandarin.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nothing in the prison has English translations, including the guided tour (which you have to book beforehand in order to give in). It is an interesting place and it has been pretty well-preserved. My favorite part was the miniature models of different prisons.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good historical place to visit with some educational values, to learn more about Chiayi history. There are some tours scheduled as well, which in my opinion, worth to join (contact museum for more information).
