★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very simple & nicely-presented dessert in a surprisingly cute stall in this little nook/alley filled with other hidden gems. Staff is very friendly and will point you to a table quickly.
I am a huge fan of pearl barley— even with the crunchy dark center that usually comes with it. This shop makes it without the crunchy center, which gives the barley soup a very nice texture (similar to congee but sweet!) to be had first with the matcha ice cream. Once you’ve tasted and appreciated the simplicity of flavors, the owner recommends only then that you add in the red bean and matcha jello.
“Not your mama’s barley” because the owner recognizes that younger generations don’t like the crunch and note that removing that crunchy center seems to make barley more palatable to picky eaters.
Fantastic concept and highly recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pretty good, the Macha ice cream seemed to be the tastier choice at first, but afterwards we felt the green tea one has a more lasting flavour. If there are two of you, highly recommend order the two.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ this place is pure heaven when it comes to barley desserts !!! We have their desserts EVERYTIME we go to Tainan. It's right next to the UIJ hotel/hostel which is perfect because this is where we stayed during this trip. Their barley dessert is definitely the best we have tried in Tainan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So nice dessert in Tainan local alley. I highly recommended the one with Meiji matcha ice cream one! The flavor that they all blend altogether in your mouth was so good. With the green tea jelly and sticky rice ball added as different texture for this ice cream dessert ? I will definitely come back and reorder again!
