★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Extremely terrible. The receptionist is cold and not very helpful despite the fact that there is no language barrier. The room is super small for 4 people (it is meant to be 4-ppl room) that we couldn’t even manage to open our luggage freely without stepping into them from time to time walking/jumping in the room. There’s no elevator. The building is absolutely old. We found hair and dead insects on bed sheets. There are many hotels in Alishan area that provide free shuttle service to bus stop since it’s hell way out of the town. But this one doesn’t. If u stay here—be BASIC and be rich in experience around alishan so that u know how to get around.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Most reviews stated the same.. I came in November the temperature in both day and night were pretty cold, apparently heater is not at desire temperature yet the price is very high. The view from the room is not fascinating too, most hotel facing direction with cheaper price

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was sceptical at first from reading the review that this is a bad hotel. But my experience says so otherwise. A very amazing hotel located at the top of alishan. Walking to the alishan train station takes 5-10minutes by slow walk.
Hotel amenities is basic and good. Good sound isolation and hot water. The front desk speaks Chinese only so maybe hard for English tourist. But overall the experience was great. There are hot water dispenser at each level. Note! NO LIFT. If you are carrying heavy luggage. Please leave in the car.
There is a 7 eleven which is 24 hours and you can buy anything there if you feel hungry late at night.
The hotel does not provide sales of sunrise ticket. You have to head to the train station between 1-4pm to purchase the sunrise ticket.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My family stayed here for a night while visiting Alishan.
The check-in process was smooth. The staff was very helpful: she basically gave us a good explanation of how we could maximize our time while visiting the area, including when to get the train tickets for viewing the sunrise, when to wake up and get ready in the morning, and when to leave for the train station.
We were initially given a room on the first floor. When we requested for an alternative, the staff gave us another room on the third floor. While we had to climb up the stairs (the hotel has no elevator), we were glad to get away from the noise at the first floor.
The room was clean, well lighted. The bed was comfortable. The view from our room was great, looking out towards the valley and the mountains.
The bathroom had a bathtub, which was a surprise. The towels were not absorbent; I felt like I was not entirely dry after a shower, even though I've wiped myself thoroughly with the towel.
The hotel provides central heating for the rooms, but the heating only turns on at 8 pm. So the room felt really cold until then. Even with the heating on, the room was still quite cold; the heating was basically inadequate. The one-inch gap under the room door probably didn't help too!
Breakfast was subcontracted out to a restaurant near the visitor centre. They provide basically Chinese food: porridge, noodles, vegetables, coffee, tea, soy milk, toast. Only chopsticks and spoons are provided, no fork.
Overall, this was an acceptable short stay. We wouldn't want to stay here for more than a night; at any rate, you don't need more than one day in Alishan National Forest Recreation Area if you plan your time well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Enjoyed the stay despite the reviews. All the necessaries are there. Warm water, heater, clean toilet, clean blanket and linens.
Bed is soft but can still more than enough to support 2 adults; not sure if you're overweight. The TV is fat-old-school but who the f watched TV when there are plenty of beautiful sceneries out there, and when it's dark you should be sleeping to catch sunrise in the following Dawn :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don’t be too afraid by the rating. Yes the hotel is a bit old and it can be a bit noisy. However, personal was really friendly and helpful, you are directly in the park and can start your journey from there easily.
Breakfast is served in a restaurant and is kinda typical for what you get here. If you are not up to local food, there are toasts and scrambled eggs available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The filthiest place I’ve ever seen. Is not about the hotel being old, the bed sheets, towels, the small coffee table next to the beds. hair, dust, stains, smells, awful. We booked a room for four people, we were only two and even for us only it was too small. Asked for a refund, they said it was not possible. Will not recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Room is clean and spotless but the place has probably seen better days. The Japanese-styled room is compact and tiny but there were two settees that come with that was a bonus. Hot water was great and the toilet is clean but outdated. There was an off pungent smell in the hotel but thankfully the room was not affected by it. For the price, i’d pick a newer hotel in the area.
