First of all, it is written in Chinese only. Prices vary by washing machine size. Buy the blue detergent on the right side of the gel from the vending machine, put it in the washing machine, and put the detergent in the lower right compartment.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Short walk from Midtown Richardson hotel, passed by a few great eating place along the way and not so many people come because it is in a small alley. Overall a nice experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small and clean coin laundry place. Bring your own laundry powder. Dryer is quite pricey but dry your cloth quickly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I used to come here regularly because this is the closest laundromat to the hotel I’ve been staying at. I had a pair of shoes that had been starting to smell after it had been raining in Taipei for many days in a row, so I took them here and attempted to wash them. Much to my surprise when I returned, my shoes were gone, and a shirtless guy had to use sign language (I speak a little bit of Chinese, but not very well) to communicate to me that someone from the laundromat had taken my shoes and walked off with them, and I had to call the customer service number. I had my Taiwanese friend call the number to try to handle the situation in a linguistically and culturally appropriate way and the woman she talked to said she’d gone off to Banqiao and I’d have to go back in an hour to pick up my shoes (this would have been a great inconvenience to me since I was hoping to go to the gym later). My friend threatened to call the police since this laundromat stole my shoes, but that would’ve realistically taken about the same amount of time. Eventually they agreed to send someone else to return my shoes earlier. I went back to the laundromat and politely apologized to a man who returned my shoes and told me “don’t come back.” The laundromat claims there’s a rule posted on the wall somewhere in Chinese saying not to wash your shoes in the washer, but I have not seen it myself, and they did not show me.
The owner of this laundromat has a serious attitude problem. My Taiwanese friend said she’s never heard of a laundromat having this rule and thinks the owner is crazy for stealing my shoes. I don’t think I’ve ever been banned from a business before in my life; this is the most unwelcome I’ve ever been made to feel since I came to Taiwan. Pretty wild stuff.
