★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One for 50 NTD. You need to wait on the line for 10-15 min to get it. But it's quite nice and big enough.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hidden in a small alley. They make the pepper buns in batches so it's very likely you'll need to wait. Place your order and you'll get a number, they'll tell you how much time you have so in the meanwhile you can visit the temple or walk around. Yummy pastry and filling, well-worth it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pepper buns is the game, slightly spicy and hint of sweet meat stuffed bun. Hidden down a small alley. Bakers will let you know how long until the next batch is ready, place your order, get your number in the queue and return a few minutes before time is up to collect.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1 for 45TWD. Recommended by my Taiwanese driver. Enough said.
Update(20Jan2019): been 2 years since I ate this, just found that the price has risen to 50TWD. Ate on 16 Jan(Wed), the dough is thin and crispy. Ate another on 20 Jan(Sun), dough now slightly thicker and chewy, maybe is different baker

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ These were hands down the best pepper buns I've tried in Taiwan. One of the original places that's been around for decades and is very famous. Perfectly cooked and lightly toasted, not BURNT like all the other supposedly famous places I've tried. People line up and wait for the next batch and when they come out they are usually all gone and the lineup starts again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hidden in the alley as show in the picture, the pork bun is yummy though it has a bit too much pepper.
Don’t miss having it when visiting Longshan Temple????

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Taiwan is also known for its pepper pork bun that cooks in a kiln like oven. I think this pepper pork bun taste good but I prefer another place that have this. This was said that all the pepper pork bun now in Taipei is actually started off from this little store, which the master taught the student and they went off to make their own version of it.
The pork inside is not juicy. This is more like a dry version pepper pork bun but outside is quite crispy.
If you are looking for a different version of the pepper pork bun other than the one you find in the night market, you can try this one. Just something different.
