★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best place for doujinshi and doujinshi goods in town, period. Held by the famous "Toranoana" from Japan, with huge bunch of great things and never let you down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They have a good selection of books here, including some newer doujins. I found one of the books I've wanted for a long time, very satisfied.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small Toranoana in comparison to Japanese locations (smaller than Kyoto location). Good selection of Chinese tankoubon, however vast majority of doujinshi are direct Japanese imports from warehouse overstock.
(For 18+) Expected larger selection of Taiwanese doujinshi, only found 12 books.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Being one of the few legit way to purchase Japanese doujin, it did located at a less populated place and easy to miss if you visit it for the first time. This bookstore has settled at 2nd floor of an old fashioned business building and you have to access it from stair next to elevator.
The bookstore could be accessed by either bus or Subway (Ximen station preferred. Once you leave the Ximen station, do not head to the surface immediately - instead, you should stay on the same underground floor and keep heading north to the end, then walking towards surface.)
Unfortunately, this bookstore doesn't have as many doujin books as their counterpart in Akihabara, Tokyo, but that's understandable due to limited space. They also try to get fresh released doujin from Japan as fast as possible (I've seen some C94 doujinshi available for sale before the end of actual C94 running at Tokyo, for example)
By the way, they have a house rule that forbid photographing at site, but sometime they will lift the restriction at exhibition section. The staff will ask customer to present their ID card for purchase of adult content, mind you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pros:
- Spacious doujinshi/manga store with creative touches from the Taiwanese staff to the traditionally uptight Japanese chain. Reading the signs in the store always makes me smile!
- I've been to tons of Toranoana stores in Japan and I have to say the Taipei store is probably the most spacious. It's also really clean. Spotless even, unlike some terrible branches in Japan. Keep it up!
- I love the fact that they also sell doujinshis in Traditional Chinese from Taiwanese artists! I suggested this strongly during their soft opening and I'm really glad they listened. This is more about being an industry leader and supporting local circles ??
Cons / room for improvement:
- This is purely from a fujoshi's POV on their BL/yaoi selection. As Toranoana's first international location, the store unfortunately lacks diversity. Sure, the store has some new arrivals as soon as they are released in Japan, but overall the selection under each anime/game title is still quite limited.
- They are still figuring out what works best in the local market. I appreciate that they have an online survey you can fill out. I heard that they check it regularly and import popularly requested titles accordingly, so that's nice.
- I wish they had an online system like the Japanese site, where you could check the availability of books in store!
- Now this one I really gotta make a complaint: There are some doujinshis (especially the Shingeki no Kyojin ones) from back in 2013 or 2015! That's considered ancient in the doujin market! I guess they no longer wanted to sell these old copies in Japan and decided to dump them here? Seriously? ?
