If you like to wait this is definitely the right place to go. If time equals money then this is a very expensive place to be customer.

Extremely long wait time and bad working efficiency

I called this branch specifically prior to taking a day off work asking if they are able to assist me in opening an account as a foreigner with only basic Chinese reading skills. I had all the required documents ready and confirmed with them if they are able to give me some translation assistance with forms, they said they have staff whom speak English and are definitely able to assist. I turned up the next day and then the staff impolitely say they aren't able to assist and it's too difficult to explain what the sections of the forms mean. They also repeatedly kept stating that I need a local friend to help me as they are not able to explain/translate the complicated vocabulary in the forms in to English and that's the only way. This totally contradicted what was stated on the phone when I inquired earlier. Also, I ran past other solutions such as taking photos of the forms and sending them to friends and then completing them in the branch, however they were totally dismissive of this suggestion and showed literally not one bit of interest in assisting me in opening an account. I left and went to another branch of the same bank nearby and had no issues opening an account. Staff there actually explained everything in English and it was very straight forward. Service staff in this branch in particular really were not up to a minimum standard at all and really don't show any willingness to assist or put in any effort. I have three other Bank accounts in Taiwan and each time all were able to assist me in opening an account however I was truly disappointed at this branch and its unhelpful staff.

Awful bank for foreigner living in Taipei. It’s ok if you want to put cash into the bank, but for any money going into the bank it will cost you money, plus 10 days. If you are getting direct payment from employers that is not in Taipei, you’ll have to sign a physical waiver every time in person. Go somewhere else, not CTBC.

If you’re an expat go somewhere else. A friend recommended this branch to us and we tried to open an account. The first thing they asked was why we didn’t go to another branch, but then wouldn’t recommend one. They were very very uncomfortable with our presence.

I was so impressed with the efficiency of this bank and branch! As a foreigner from Australia, I was worried about the language barrier and different banking methods but ended up having a very smooth experience. Linda spoke perfect English and was very kind and helpful in opening my first bank account in Taiwan. She helped me set up the English app as well. I highly recommend CTBC and am so glad I am banking with them!
