★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shaded most of the path, not that tough if you are regularly active, gloves definitely not needed! Arrived by taxi, hiked across trail 5 at the top, down trail 2 (1 and 3 also work) and caught the#66 bus back into the da Keng bus area to transfer back to taichung

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice trail. You will see wonderful views of Taichung city during your hiking, and at the end of the trail, you can peer at a part of central mountain range of Taiwan. I would suggest bringing gloves with you, in order to prevent from some sharp pieces of the woods and ropes. There are also pavilions to take a rest.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a great hike! My husband and I arrived at 4:15p and hiked til 5:30 (making it about halfway of the total 1.9 km), then turned around because sun was setting. We arrived back at the trailhead just as it got dark. Walking the 10 minutes from the trailhead back to the parking lot in the dark was a bit unsettling with monkey sightings and noises around us! ?
This would be a very tough trail with kids since the majority is logs walkways/stairways with big gaps between each log. But it was a wonderful adventure for my husband and I, who both seldom hike but exercise regularly. Watching the sunset from this ridge was ideal! Next time we plan to arrive earlier and enjoy both trail 4 and trail 5.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice and well maintained. Can be a bit busy though as it starts at a park that is pretty well used. It's pretty steep at first. If you can get past the first 10 minutes of stairs, the rest is obtainable with resting spots along the way.
It's basically just a wooden stairway up a mountain, but it is challenging and offers a good view as your reward. :)
Just don't forget to bring plenty of water!
(Also, I didn't see any monkeys, so don't count on it if you are going mainly for that.)
